For customers who wish to evaluate the intermodal transport options to or from Turkey, ICL is the company to talk to.
Intermodal Services (Road + Rail)
ICL was the first Turkish company to invest on its own and start a scheduled container rail service to Ljublijana (Slovenia) and Neuss (Germany) from Istanbul / Turkey. The service was called ICLXPRESS and it was used to ship ICL owned 45” HC containers. ICL X-Press ran for one and a half years, starting from 2006. Unfortunately, due to low demand by customers, service levels and transit delays caused by the railway authorities in the countries ICL X-Press passed through, ICL decided to stop the service for a future trial.
Today intermodal services do exist from Europe to Turkey. They are mostly used for servicing tank containers, liquid chemicals and over weight loads such as paper and wood products.
ICL is a company with real experience and knowledge on such services. For customers who wish to evaluate the intermodal transport options to or from Turkey, ICL is the company to speak to.
Multimodal Services (Road + Sea)
For full loads over 22 tons, ICL uses the services of UN Ro-Ro from Istanbul, Turkey to Trieste, Italy. The service provides a secure and greener transport option for ICL and its customers. Although ICL only uses the Ro-Ro services on 10% of its total truck transport services, it is a firm supporter of UN Ro-Ro and other companies with such services.
